Visitor attractions in Lichfield and surrounding area

The hotel is a short journey to Alton Towers, Drayton Manor Park (Tamworth) and NEC, and also makes an ideal base if you are visiting the historic cathedral city of Lichfield with a host of traditional shops to choose from, as well as the ancient Roman sites.

The city of Lichfield is famous for two things; its three-spired cathedral, known throughout the Midlands as the 'Ladies of the Vale', and the birthplace of Dr Johnson, writer of the first authoritative Dictionary of the English Language. Along with other notaries such as Darwin, Garrick and Seward, Samuel Johnson was the focal point for Lichfield 's intellectual scene that gave the city its own identity.

Although only a few miles of green belt separate the city from nearby Walsall and the heart of the Black Country, Lichfield has a strong cultural, cosmopolitan and expectant personality.

The Three Spires Shopping Centre has undergone an expansion programme with new shops, a new car park, and home to over 40 stores and a number of familiar names such as M&S Simply Food, Body Shop and WH Smith. The Market Square is home to one of the biggest farmer's markets in Staffordshire.
